The Surgeon General’s (MOD) policy on the medical care of personnel is that wherever possible Service personnel should have access to healthcare that is at least as good as, or better than, that available to the civilian population. In general within the Naval Service, access to primary care is more readily available than in the NHS as is access to some types of secondary (specialist/hospital) care.
