Irregular Occupancy
You become an Irregular Occupant when you remain in SFA beyond your entitlement. This may occur for one of several reasons and not necessarily through any fault of your own.

Reasons for Becoming an Irregular Occupant

• Service Person Leaves the Royal Navy/Royal Marines - Entitlement to SFA ceases on the last day of Service, any occupancy beyond this is Irregular.
• Breakdown of Marriage - If a breakdown of marriage occurs there is a period of 'cooling off', however, once the marital category of the serving person changes to 'separated' then a process of  'notice to quit' commences for the person still in SFA, whether that is the serving or non-serving person.

What to do if faced with Irregular Occupancy?

The Joint Service Housing Advice Office (JSHAO) website has information for those who need re-housing. There is information on Homelessness, Local Authority (Council) Housing, Affordable Housing Schemes, and Property Rental.
