Community Covenant Grant Scheme Launched PDF Print E-mail

The Armed Forces Community Covenant is a voluntary statement of mutual support between civilian and Armed Forces communities. The aim of the Community Covenant is to encourage communities to support their local Service community, promote understanding of the unique circumstances of Service life, and to encourage activities which help integrate the Armed Forces Community into local life. The Community Covenant complements the Armed Forces Covenant; which sets the tone for national Government policy aimed at improving support for the Armed Forces Community.

People support the Service community through fundraising, participating in Armed Forces Day and military celebrations, attending homecoming parades and repatriation ceremonies. Some companies offer discounts to Service families. Even simple demonstrations of support, such as displaying the Armed Forces Day window sticker in cars, has a positive effect and boosts the morale of our Armed Forces community. The Community Covenant scheme aims to build on this local level of support.

The Community Covenant is supported by the Community Covenant Grant Scheme; established to financially support projects, at the local level, which strengthen the ties between members of the Armed Forces Community and the community in which they live.

The Grant Scheme will consider applications for projects that deliver tangible results and meet the overall aims of the Community Covenant Scheme. An application for funding can be submitted by any part of the community, this might include volunteer groups, charities, public bodies such as schools, and so on. Click here to view the Community Covenant Grant Scheme webpage, which provides further information including eligibility criteria and how to apply for funding. Bids will be assessed by an MOD and HM Treasury panel.

So why not get involved and apply for funding for an event in your area...
